Analysis of BEAM (1D problem)

Analysis of beam with I section

STEPS :
1.      Start AnsysAPDL product launcher.
                        Create working directory
Job name: analysis of I section.

2.      Go to Preferences – select structural
3.      Preprocessor
a.       Element type – add/edit/delete -  add – beam 188

b.      Real constant – NO NEED TO INPUT FOR BEAM ELEMENT
c.       Material properties – material model – structural – linear – elastic – isotropic- input EX & PRXY(Given)

d.      Sections - beam – common section – Select Section ID 01 – Name I section – select I section & input dimensions.

f.       Modeling – create – lines – straight – through keypoints – select keypoints and draw lines as shown in fig.
g.      Meshing – mesh tools
Element attributes – lines – set – set element type, material properties, section etc
Orientation keypoint ON – select lines APPLY – select KP no 6 – APPLY

h.      Mesh tool – size control – lines set – select lines – set num of divisions – APPLY

i.        Mesh tool – mesh select lines – MESH
Ansys MENU – PlotCtrol – Style – Size & shape – Display elements ON
j.        Loads – define loads – Apply – structural – Displacements – on KPs – zero as req in problem.
k.      Loads – define loads – Apply – structural – force – Fy  -500N on KPs 1 & 5.
l.        Loads – define loads – Apply – structural – force – Fy -1000N on KPs 3.
4.      Solution – Solve – Current LS – Solution Done.
5.      General Postproc – Plot results – Deformed shape – dof + unformed

6.      General Postproc – Plot results – nodal solution – Dof – Displacement vector sum.
